This project was bid in two different phases, but was combined together after GCI secured both contracts. The scope of work included demolition of existing construction along the drive, adjacent to the roadway around and in front of the building. New site work construction included clearing, erosion control, grading & drainage piping. Masonry retaining walls and a set of steps were installed in front on the structure, which were veneered with a locally sourced stone & finished out with a granite cap. Other improvements were the installation of concrete curb & gutter, site lighting, brick paver walks, ramps & asphalt paving along the street corridor. A new set of stairs was also installed leading pedestrian traffic down the bank from Chapell Wilson toward Duncan Hall. It was finished using precast treads, stone veneer, granite caps & associated railings. Note that all this work had to be done while keeping traffic accessible for ASU emergency vehicles.
